Branding for Ivy House Productions
Ivy House Productions is an independent TV production company that makes kids entertainment. The managing director is ex-Channel 5 Head of Children's Programming, Jessica Symons. I was hired to design the logo, website and stationery with full branding concept and design.
Research & Inspiration
I first spoke to Jessica about the vision she had for the company brand and logo. She wanted the representation of the brand to be "sophisticated, elegant, grown up (not kiddy looking) and in an art nouveaux style. I began to research art nouveaux ivy including Mucha and the Arts and Crafts movement as well as some more modern alternatives.
SketChes
After some initial sketching after gathering lots of inspiration, I broke down the brief into three possible routes to show to the client and discuss a finer direction. I had already discussed the clients needs and was sure she would like the 2nd one.
DEVELOPING THE LOGO
I hand drew loads of ivy, tracing around the natural veins to creAte block shapes, then using the negative space (deleting the veins) to make a shape. It's amazing how many different types of ivy you start to see when you begin to really look.
Final Logos
Website
Using Wordpress, I built out pages to the agreed colour scheme with extra illustrations using the ivy leaf. It's a pretty simple website which will be used for corporate identity and searches; it needed to be professional and elegant in line with the brand feel, easily updated, SEO compatible and responsive.
Stationery
As part of the branding, I created some letterheads and business cards as well as a complement slip as part of the set. The line of ivy was a design that could translate to the website as a line to separate sections.
“Olenka did a fantastic job designing the Ivy House Productions company logo, stationery and website. I’m extremely pleased with the design, and think the logo is stylish, original and really conveys the brand sensibilities. I found Olenka a delight to work with. She was positive, extremely personable, responsive to ideas, creative and thorough.”
